Firearm Transfers
Receiving a Firearm From Another FFL?
Pekin Gun and Sporting Goods can help coordinate your incoming transfer. Share the details before your firearm ships so we can confirm the next steps and applicable requirements.
How Incoming Transfers Work
FFL Coordination
Contact us before the sending federally licensed dealer (FFL) ships your firearm. We can provide our FFL information to the dealer and help coordinate the shipment.
Arrival and Pickup
Once the firearm arrives, we’ll contact you about the steps required for pickup, including identification, paperwork, and any applicable background check.
Compliance at Every Step
All transfers are subject to applicable federal, Illinois, and local laws. Eligibility and required waiting periods must be confirmed before a firearm can be released.

How Firearm Transfers Work
Send Us Your Transfer Request
Contact Pekin Gun and Sporting Goods with your name, phone number, the sending dealer’s name and contact information, and the firearm details available from your order.
Coordinate With the Sending FFL
We’ll coordinate any required dealer information with the sending FFL. Please wait for confirmation before arranging shipment to our store.
Complete Paperwork and Pickup
After the firearm arrives and is processed, we’ll contact you about the required identification, paperwork, background check, and pickup steps. Release is subject to all applicable requirements.
Transfers Must Meet Legal Requirements
Every firearm transfer through Pekin Gun and Sporting Goods is subject to applicable federal, Illinois, and local laws. Before a firearm can be released, the recipient must meet all legal eligibility requirements and complete the required forms and background check.
Submitting a request or having a firearm shipped to our store does not guarantee that a transfer can be completed. We review each transfer according to the requirements that apply to the firearm and recipient.
Please be prepared to provide valid identification and any other documentation required for your transfer, including a valid Illinois FOID card when applicable. The information you provide must match the required records and paperwork.
If you’re unsure what to bring or whether a particular transfer can be accepted, contact us before the sending FFL ships the firearm. We can explain our store process, but we cannot waive legal requirements.
Firearm Transfer FAQs
Find answers to common questions about requesting a transfer, working with a sending FFL, and preparing for pickup.
How do I request a firearm transfer?
Contact us before shipment with your name, phone number, the sending FFL’s contact information, and the firearm’s make, model, and order details if available. We’ll let you know what information we need to review the request.
Will you coordinate with the sending FFL?
Yes. Once we have the sending dealer’s information and confirm we can receive the transfer, we can coordinate the required FFL details with them. Please do not assume a shipment is approved until we confirm.
When will my firearm be ready for pickup?
Timing depends on shipment arrival, store processing, required paperwork, background check results, and any applicable waiting periods. We’ll contact you when the firearm is ready for the next step; an estimated delivery date is not a pickup appointment.
What do I need to bring, and can every transfer be completed?
Bring valid identification and any documentation required by law, including an Illinois FOID card when applicable. All transfers must comply with federal, state, and local laws, and the recipient must be legally eligible. We cannot guarantee approval or release of a firearm.
